I love your schedule you have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into it. I am just wondering if you actually follw it as a) It would be awfully time consuming with all those children and b) your blog just seems to record days out and such like. Is this schedule just for the benefit of the LEA or is it genuine and you have just not started till term time?

Do you also keep written records and stuff for the LEA or have written work to show? Very impressive anyway. Some of you other home educators TAKE NOTE!! THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE!

Thankyou for your encouraging remarks - whoever you are! The schedule IS definatly genuine - if you read my other webpage - "Why we do What we do and How we do it" - you'll get more of a feel for how we work things. And no I don not do anything for the benefit of the LEA - I do it for the benefit of my children! The fact that I therefore have records for the LEA is a bonus!

One thing I would say though, is that there is no 'this is the way it should be done' in home-education. Some like to call it home-learning instead - to get away from the idea of structured education. I actually think if I were a different kind of person, more creative and such, and if my children (especially my eldest) were different kinds of children then this structured way of home-schooling would be an absolute nightmare. Every family has it's own dynamics and every child (and parent) has their own needs. The whole beauty of home-educating our children is that we can make it 'made to measure', with lovingly hand-sewn seams holding it together! However we choose to hold our needle and the fabric we choose to use, is all about individuality and diversity. In 'school' there is little room for any of that love, individualism or diversity - that's why they have rigid schedules and 'schemes of work'. Believe me - I may have a planned schedule, but it is NOT rigid and I hope I have built into it room for my children to grow.

Thanks again.

Ladyrat - if it's Ok for you to post annonymous comments on others' blogs, why not allow it on your own!? To set up the kind of blog you have I think is deplorable. Why would you want to do that? What business is it of yours what other people chose as their educational 'style' for their children and who put you in the judgement seat?
