Abbie's 15th Birthday & A Late Winter Walk

As promised ~ a birthday blog for my beautiful 15 year old!

Her birthday itself was set to be a bit busy with all the usual Wednesday evening things, plus the addition of her and myself going to a Lent Bible study in the middle of the day. But she requested to open her cards and presents in the morning and then go out for a walk, and as it was a lovely bright, crisp winter's morning that's what we did ~ and then rushed back to cook lunch and be ready for us to go out for 1pm. I'm glad we went though ~ we all felt it was great to get some fresh air in our lungs. We'd have walked around The Moss if it hadn't been so wet lately, but we knew we'd be up to our knees in mud, so instead we stuck to the concrete this time. It was still lovely though, and the children all enjoyed stroking the local horses :D

  

 

  

  

On Thursday evening we had pizza and watched Cinderella (the newest one) together (Abbie is a huge Disney fan!) ~ and had cake!!

So Much Outside Fun...

Much can happen in little time...

Most of that time has been 'holiday' time so we've made the most of it and have been outside quite a lot ~ with the very much welcome warmer weather!

DD had a gym competition ~ he got a bronze on vault (handstand-flatback) this time :D

The lambs in the field on our lane are growing rapidly (and the Mummy sheep have just been shawn), but they can still get under the fence, so sheep herding has become a favourite pass-time!

Nanna & Grandad (& Granny) have visited for Easter...

which of course involved going out ~ and that day it was actually warm enough for the first ice-creams of the year!

My 7 aside team played footy (well 6 aside + Taz in goal)

and DD did what he loves...

well... actually not just DD on this occasion!

Easter Sunday was a cause for major celebration as my eldest son and eldest daughter got baptised ~ and their Dad baptised them :D 

A real blessing and a total thrill for us all :D

Chip has dared to do a little messy craft ~ finger-painting even!

And there's been plenty of other creativity too..

Stitch has learnt to ride his bike ~ finally ~ and hasn't been off it much since..

..and Chip is finally beginning to get the hang of his balance bike (in the park today)

TP and I took a trip to Lancaster for an special photoshoot, and enjoyed a walk to our destination alongside the railway line and the River Lune

Stitch has got a serious thing going on for bug-hunting at the moment, 

so was thrilled to find these in the garden today whilst we were having a major 'Spring sweep' and tidy-up.

There have been many other 'moments' too ~ including another trip to the village park and a little photo-shoot with Minnie in the hope of winning some Joe Browns goodies ~ which we didn't in the end :( ~ but this post would go on forever, so that'll do for now :D

Birthday in the Forest

Yesterday my number 2 turned 

(those dates aren't right, just ignore them!)

He's a bit camera shy...

so he usually pulls a silly when he sees me coming!

All the same ~ this is who he is...

silly, sensitive, stroppy (well he is 14!) - and just a little bit wild!

We went to Delamere Forest in the afternoon and you should have seen (which you won't because my camera missed it) the EPIC dive he did ~ hurtling VERY fast down a steep slope ~ over his handlebars! He looked like Superman! HOW his head missed the tree (whose roots he hit) I will never know, although I am very thankful it did!

Once his bike had been carried back to the car, where we just so happened to have the right spanner to refit his wheel into its correct position, we carried on on with our walk.

Nothing stops this kid!

And as we were in a forest, we did a bit of fungus hunting too :D

Having read on NinnyNoodleNoo all about their adventures in the woods, this had made it's way onto my 'to-do' list for half-term!

Happy Birthday (for yesterday) Taz!

On the way home it was decided that instead of nipping into Tesco for pizza toppings we would just do KFC instead. It was getting late admittedly, but KFC is not my favourite and they almost always miss something off our humongous order. Last night was no exception, only it was only something small (two dips) that Bugs failed to notice (or mention) until the chicken was all but gone! Other than that it was quite an enjoyable meal ~ as it goes. We were all full at least!  We did still pop into Tesco though for pudding ~ Taz wanted a cheesecake, and had I had cream in the fridge I'd have made one, but I didn't so bought it was. It was tasty enough though (orange, mango and passionfruit ~ nice choice Taz!) :D
